What you can do

  • Scan both sides of your passport, ID card, driver’s license, residence permit or insurance card.
  • Add the expiry date and get reminders 90, 30 and 7 days before it expires.
  • Keep the scans encrypted in your vault, next to your photos and notes.

Why 90, 30 and 7 days

Renewing a passport or an ID can take weeks, and some destinations want your passport to stay valid for months after you arrive. A reminder 90 days out gives you time to book an appointment; 30 and 7 days are the safety net. Check the renewal times and entry rules that apply to you with the issuing office.

Reminders that don’t give anything away

Reminders are local notifications that iOS schedules on your iPhone. Their text is generic — “A document in OwlVault expires soon” — and never includes the document’s name, type or number. Someone glancing at your lock screen learns nothing about what you keep.

A copy, not a replacement

A scan on your phone helps when you need a number, a date or proof that you had the document, for example after losing it. Border control and most offices still ask for the original.

Free and Pro

The free version keeps 3 documents with reminders. OwlVault Pro removes the limit. See pricing.
