What you can do

  • Move photos and videos from your library into a vault, then delete the originals.
  • Take photos and videos inside the vault. They never touch your camera roll.
  • Browse a fast grid, open photos full screen and play videos.
  • Keep several vaults, each opened by its own pattern or PIN.

Several vaults, and no list of them

Each vault has its own pattern or PIN. The unlock screen never lists your vaults: you open one by entering its pattern or PIN, and a wrong pattern looks exactly like a vault that doesn’t exist (“Nothing here”). One vault can hold family photos, another the things nobody else should see.

Encrypted before it’s saved

Every photo and video gets its own key and is encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your iPhone before it’s written to storage. Opening the vault takes your pattern or PIN together with a key that never leaves this iPhone. There is no OwlVault server, so your photos are never uploaded anywhere by us. How the encryption works.

After you move photos in

A photo you moved into OwlVault is only private once the original is gone. Delete it from your library, then empty the Recently Deleted album in Photos, where iOS keeps deleted items for 30 days. If you use iCloud Photos, deleting the original removes it from your other devices too.

Free and Pro

The free version holds 2 vaults with 100 photos and 10 videos in total, with the same protection as Pro. OwlVault Pro removes the limits. See pricing.
